The laughter of their Panthers is the appropriate response after their months-long fling with Mut 24 coins Baker Mayfield finally resulted in the trade. Carolina's unorthodox approach to their QB role seemed to be framed more around saving money than building a long-term results, initially attempting to trade for Deshaun Watson Then, they were linked to any available QB in the market, before finally drafting Matt Corral.

There's something hilarious regarding a team with the No. 1 and No. 3 picks of the 2017 Madden NFL 24 Draft, both of whom are quarterbacks. However, neither did as expected. While trading for Mayfield now lacks foresight ahead of the most expensive QB draft in recent memory, there is one scenario that this could prove beneficial for the Panthers although it is still to be determined whether Carolina has a strategy in place.

Before we go into how this deal can be a good idea and what it could mean, it should be noted that I'm not a fan of it, for all the same reasons I had back in May. I don't see there being much upside in trading for Mayfield even if you're part of the Panthers. They're arguably the worst team within the NFC South, and Baker sure as hell isn't likely to cause Carolina to push the Buccaneers for the division championship -- and that's because the NFC will be no different. The NFC is one of the most infamous murderer's row, particularly on the NFC West in the West, that it's hard to see any wild cards in the near future. If, in fact, this is the magic sauce to put everything together, the prize for the team is that they'll have to sign Baker an enormous contract to retain him based off just a tiny sample size, or losing him for nothing.

What this does, however it does is make the Panthers look interesting in 2022 if we work under the assumption they were never going to go to Corral in his first season. The team could be discussing "open competition" for the time being and the only issue is a poor Sam Darnold that has already proved he can't be "the guy," any pretense of the existence of the case for a QB competition is for posterity for posterity's sake. In 2021. this was a team of 5-12. and with Mayfield they could end up being ... I dunno, 8-9?

If we believe that Mayfield has always been going to start, that's where things get intriguing. The Panthers hired Ben McAdoo as their new quarterback to run the offense. In the beginning, it was a baffling decision which seemed to be bound to cause the same problems it did when it was in New York. McAdoo prefers to play an mut 24 madden coins open, fake West Coast shotgun passing base which requires quick decisions from the quarterback and the athletic ability to collect yards in the ground once you're flushed out of your pocket. A statuesque, old Eli Manning was the perfectly wrong quarterback for this system -- exactly in the same way a statuesque Darnold isn't a good fit.
